Service Charges
Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences is committed to the Open Access model of publishing. This ensures free web access to the results of research and maximum visibility for published papers. However, it requires the author or a supporting institution to pay the costs of the review process, typesetting, web publication, and long term archiving. These service charges are categorized according to the submitted material. The service charges are invoiced after the proof-reading (final typeset version of the accepted manuscript). Upon receipt of the corresponding payment, the journal article will be published and is then immediately accessible free of charge for any reader.NHESS offers a limited amount of service charge waivers. Authors can apply for these waivers during manuscript registration by mentioning the waiver application in the comment box "Author's Statement". The final decision is made by the Managing Editor upon manuscript acceptance and can be a partial or a full waiver of the publication fees. Please note that if the waiver is not granted, partially or totally, the author has to agree that he/she will pay the required service charges to enable the paper publication!
The following service charges are valid for any manuscripts submitted from 1 January 2012.

The original manuscript follows the guidelines according to Category 1. The typeset paper shows an amount of 10 pages in the journal style, calculated with €41 net per page = €410 + 19% VAT. |
